Uruguay: pulp export ranks first in forestry products, China and EU account for 80%

According to the recent report of the Uruguayan “National News”, the Uruguayan Investment and Export Promotion Bureau predicted that the total volume of Uruguayan goods exports would reach US $12.985 billion in 2023, a slight decrease of 2% year on year. With the operation of the second UPM pulp mill, the export of pulp from Uzbekistan will increase by 50% to 2.606 billion US dollars in 2023, eventually surpassing the export of meat and becoming the largest export commodity.

According to the Uruguayan Observer, the Agricultural Planning and Policy Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay estimated that the export value of the forestry industry of Uzbekistan would reach 2.446 billion US dollars in 2022, with a year-on-year increase of 13%. Except for pine logs, the export value of the main products in the forestry industry chain has increased, and the main export destinations are the European Union and China, accounting for about 80%.
