Türkiye’s paper mill was shut down due to the earthquake

The violent earthquake in Türkiye on February 6 shocked the whole country, killing tens of thousands of people, which will also have an impact on Türkiye’s paper industry.

For example, the epicenter of the earthquake, Kahra Manmarash, is the location of two paper mills of Kipas Kagit and KMK Paper. Both factories are now closed.

Kipas Kagit produces waste paperboard base paper at its plant in Kahra Manmalash, with an annual capacity of about 450000 tons. KMK Paper’s Kahra Manmash factory produces recycled paper-based corrugated base paper, gray paperboard and core paperboard with a capacity of 150000 tons/year.

Other paper mills in the region may also be affected, although there is no information about them at present. For example, Essel Kagit operates a toilet paper factory in Osmaniye, and Ankutsan’s carton paper factory also plans to add a new paper machine this year. The factory is located in Adana, and several other paper mills are also located in the factory.

Osmaniye tissue factory in Essex County. The company said shortly after the earthquake that although the toilet paper PM was not damaged and the factory itself was not seriously damaged, it decided to stop production in consideration of the scale of the suffering of the factory workers and human beings. According to market sources, Osmaniye plant is now restarted and running after about a week of shutdown. The factory can produce about 31000 tons of household paper every year.
