The soaring energy prices in Europe may cause the shutdown of production lines or the shortage of toilet paper in Finland

Finlin tissue, a Finnish paper company, said that soaring energy prices in Europe had led it to reduce its paper production in recent weeks. According to the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation reported on the 26th, Finlin Tissue warned that further shutdown of the production line might lead to a shortage of toilet paper and other products. Previously, due to the sharp rise in European energy prices, the company’s factories in Germany and Slovakia temporarily stopped production.

Jani Xilampe, the company’s Nordic marketing director, said that soaring energy costs in Europe were hindering the operation of paper companies, with Central and Eastern Europe being the most severely affected. He said that the electricity price in Europe is at a historical high. Although the situation in the Nordic countries is slightly better now, it may also rise. The company has 9 paper mills in Europe. Although the production of paper mills in south central Finland has not been affected, many toilet paper and kitchen paper are not produced locally and need to be exported from Central Europe to Finland. As the price of toilet paper rises, the cost may be passed on to consumers.
