The price of staple fiber pulp products in South America paper industry rose again

Brazilian wood pulp manufacturer klabin paper recently announced that the price of staple fiber pulp exported to China will rise by US $30 / ton from May. In addition, Arauco pulp mill in Chile and bracell paper industry in Brazil also said to follow up the price rise.

Accordingly, since May 1, the average price of staple fiber pulp exported by klabin paper to China has risen to US $810 per ton, while the average price of staple fiber pulp has just increased by about 45% at the end of December last year.

It is said that the price rise of staple fiber pulp again is affected by the superposition of various factors, including the strike of employees in Finnish pulp mills, the obstruction of the global logistics chain caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and the reduction of pulp mills in specific regions.

In addition to the above factors, the logistics problems such as the shortage of global shipping enterprises and regional containers, the shortage of port drivers and trucks, and the strong pulp consumption and demand have led to the deterioration of the balance between supply and demand.

In the week of April 22, the price of staple fiber pulp in the Chinese market rose sharply to US $784.02 per ton, an increase of US $91.90 in one month. Meanwhile, the price of long fiber pulp rose to US $979.53, up US $57.90 in one month.
