Chinese and Russian enterprises sign a large supply order of 700000 tons of pulp and paperboard entering the Chinese market every year

On November 5, the 5th China International Import Expo was held in the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai). On the first day of the Expo, China Xiamen Jianfa Paper Industry Co., Ltd. and Russia Ilim Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the cardboard supply field in Shanghai.

From 2023 to 2025, Illim will supply 700,000 tons of paper pulp and various kinds of cardboard to Jianfa Paper Industry every year, which will only increase.

The commodity pulp produced by Ilim Group accounts for 75% of the total output of Russia, the cardboard accounts for 20%, and the paper accounts for 10%. At present, 44% of the Group’s pulp and paper products are exported to China. At present, more than 500 factories in 20 regions in China use the products of Yilim Group.

According to the person in charge of the company, Yilim only exports high-tech products and high value-added products to China, not conventional sawn timber and logs.

Since entering the Chinese market, Yilim Group has exported more than 25 million tons of pulp and paper products to China. This year, the delivery volume to the Chinese market is about 1.7 million tons, which is expected to reach 2.4 million tons per year in three years.

The annual output of pulp in Russia is about 10 million tons, and the annual export volume is about 2.1 million to 2.3 million tons, accounting for 4% to 5% of the global trade volume. More than 60% of the pulp is exported to China, and some is exported to South Korea and Europe. The annual export volume of paper and paperboard is 1.29 million tons.

Now Russia has been sanctioned by Europe and the United States, and some paper mills have encountered difficulties in production. However, making full use of forest products has become an important means of economic rescue. It is optimistic that the output will increase in a few years.
